Baby Sign Language Book

Before you start, write down any gestures you and your baby are already using.  Without realizing it there may be many nonverbal gestures, like: nodding head "yes" or "no", blowing kisses, lifting arms to be picked up, etc.

It's never too early or too late to start signing.  Most babies develop motor and memory skills to start signing when they are 6 - 10 months old.

You have learned so much already just by becoming aware of your baby's surrounding and of what your baby is gesturing for and you can learn how easily you can turn this into a fun and bonding experience while learning to communicating baby's wants and needs using our baby sign language book.

The Learning Guide To Baby Sign Language that we offer has 36 sign language signs in our dictionary, also a second dictionary sorted by basic, intermediate and advanced signs to learn and teach your baby.  We explore the American Sign Language Guidelines and have also included printable flashcards along with the baby sign language dictionary to easily learn and teach your child.

Signing with your child is very easy and it is a natural process for your child. You can start teaching your child sign language as early as 6 months. Your child may still be pointing and gurgling but he/she can show a sign to let you know what he wants. Also, you can use a sign along with a word which may make it easier for the child to understand.

Also it is important to share your knowledge with other family members and this makes it very easy for everyone to encourage the use of sign language for early communication.

Made up signs by your baby are perfectly fine to use but try to limit this as much as possible.  It can be a challenge for other members of the family if they try to change a made up sign to the correct ASL sign because they were unfamiliar with the home-made sign and in turn can lead to more misunderstanding and frustration.  Like I mentioned earlier I recommend encouraging ASL Signs as much as possible.

So let's get started!  First things first, remember to have fun.  The more fun you make learning signs the more involved your baby will become.
